African Penguins Awarenes Day

The #APAW2014: African Penguins Awareness Day might confuse you when you try to search for an exact date for celebrating it. You are likely to find dates like the 11th of October, 12th or 18th of the same month. You might almost be tempted to pick one date and stick to it or be like me who likes the whole stretch of celebrating the whole week!
The #APAW2014 is celebrated between the 11th and 13th of October every year dedicated to raising worldwide awareness about the plight of the endangered African penguin.
Penguins are aquatic, flightless birds that are highly adapted to life in the water. Their distinct tuxedo-like appearance is called countershading, a form of camouflage that helps keep them safe in the water. Penguins do have wing-bones, though they are flipper-like and extremely suited to swimming.
These are beautiful and intelligent animals that are able to mimic humans and can be trained to display various kinds of stunts. Unfortunately, it is often an unknown fact that less than 2% of the African penguin population remain in the wild today.

Although I have never met a penguin, I will however love to meet one someday. I don't have to meet them to love them but I'm sure my love for them will increase when I physically meet and even touch them :* So I am pleading that the activities of others do not make these species go extinct, so I and others like me, can get to meet these beautiful creatures of God.

Wishing you all who are participating in this years' #APAW2014, a lovely celebration!!!
