END HUNGER PROJECT 8 (ABUJA), OCTOBER 21

On the 5th of October, 2019, we had 18 of OCI Nigeria volunteers went to Durumi 3 area in Abuja FCT to carry out the End Hunger Project.
The End Hunger Project (EHP) is one of OCI Nigeria projects aimed at enlightening targeted communities on basic hygiene practices and the importance and benefits of education. Along with this enlightenment is free medical check-up for community members, practical teachings on brushing and hand washing, entrepreneurship lecture, and donation of items like stationeries (books, pens, etc), food and clothing. By doing this, we are doing the little we can, where we are, now that we can, we are contributing our own quota to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 2 respectively which are to end poverty and hunger. This is the 8th End Hunger Project since 2014 and we will keep doing this.
Durumi community welcomed us and enjoyed our time with them. Beyond the smiles on their faces, we certainly know that we made a difference. The program started at noon with OCI Nigeria medical team doing medical check-ups for community members followed by training on Soap making and farming. The program ended at 4pm. The community chief and his 2 wives were given fruits and other items for his 5 children. Special appreciation goes to every donor, volunteer, and facilitator. Special thanks to David Afolayan Photography.
