LOVE TO THE STREETS 2020

Each and every day of the year is important but every 14th of February is uniquely special because of the feelings and celebration that comes with it. For us at OCI Nigeria, we look beyond the fun and excitement that comes with the season; we look at the opportunities that presents themselves. This is why on every 14th of February, we carry out the “Love to the streets” event.

 

According to NHS data, Valentine’s day appears to have a significant impact on amorous activities as the data shows that there is a “spike in women becoming pregnant.” We then came up with the Love to the Streets campaign. This campaign is aimed at keeping the young minds busy.

 

OCI volunteers in 6 out of 36 states of Nigeria organize Peace rallies in different communities with selected target groups like the market women group, girls club, artisans, etc. We go about talking to people about the need to embrace peace in the home, at work, in our communities and in the world at large. We believe that love can only be expressed in an atmosphere of peace and there cannot be growth, progress and development in our nation without peace.

So far we have had #LTTS in Delta, Oyo, Lagos, Kwara and Abuja.

 

We go out with cardboards displaying messages and quotes about peace and we also make posts on our blogs and social media accounts using the hashtags: #LTTS #lovetothestreets

In the year 2019, because of the National elections, we only had a virtual campaign.

 

After our rallies, we usually have film shows, picnic or late lunch.
