Thoughts on EDUCATION!

Over the past few weeks, a topic that has been rolling over in my mind has been 'Education'. I hope at the end of this post I would have done justice to the thoughts on my mind on this important topic. What's the fuss about education? After all, most of us probably just went through school and before we realized what struck us, we were done with school and we asked ourselves what next? Another group of people among us probably had to struggle to put themselves through school. Some others went to school to please a parent, guardian, relative or some mentor. Whatever the case, a majority of us who are reading this post right now must have had to go through some form of educational system.

What is 'Education'? Merriam‑Webster dictionary gives a few definitions as:  "the action or process of teaching someone especially in a school, college, or university. ; the knowledge, skill, and understanding that you get from attending a school, college, or university. ; a field of study that deals with the methods and problems of teaching. "

Is that all education entails? Why is education so important? Reading a post online about the importance of education, Kavya Vidyarthi stated that  'a healthier lifestyle and living' is one of the major benefits of being educated. However, the most effective way to understand the importance of a thing is to imagine the absence of that thing. What if there was never anything like education, what if we all could not read and write? This is what these prolific authors have in response to that question:
'Without education, there is no development, and without books there is no education. I've never heard of a country that has been able to develop without an educated population...Think about how you can sit down with an inanimate object, a book, and go through it; and at the end of it you're rather different, having your eyes opened to things, understanding things differently. I think that's extraordinarily powerful and I want everyone to have that chance.'- David Smith
'Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world'- Nelson Mandela
'Education is the best friend. An educated person is respected everywhere. Education beats the beauty and the youth.'- Chanakya
'The main function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true education' - Martin Luther King, Jr

Need I say more? Education is obviously extremely important. Agreed. Acknowledged.

But what happens in a case where some people in our society cannot afford 'EDUCATION'?

I'll leave you, for a short while, with these thoughts...
